Loan and savings software for SFDs in Côte d'Ivoire
An SFD's money belongs to its members, and that single fact sets the standard for its records. Every contribution, every disbursement and every repayment has to be attributable to a named member, with the change traceable to whoever made it. Vasool records each entry where it happens — member, amount, channel, agent — keeps savings distinct from credit, and closes the day per agent rather than per branch, in CFA francs on Abidjan business dates. We should say plainly up front: Côte d'Ivoire is not yet selectable at company setup. If you are planning a rollout, talk to us before you build around it.
What a supervised SFD needs from its field system
A reporting pack is only as good as what was recorded at the doorstep. These are the controls that decide whether the numbers you submit can be defended.
Speak the routine, approve the consequential
Officers dictate collections in English and Vasool writes a structured record — borrower, amount, channel — not an audio clip. The records that carry real consequence go the other way: gate them per role and they wait in the approvals inbox until an owner or manager decides, with both outcomes on the audit trail. French dictation ships alongside Ivorian company setup — neither is live yet — and Dioula and Baoulé are not dictation languages.
Money out, spoken the same way
Expenses are dictated like collections — "Carburant 5 mille" — and land in the income and expense ledger with a receipt photo attached. Both sides of the round are captured where they happen, so the day book closes against real cash rather than a number reconstructed from memory.
Per-member records beneath every group
Run solidarity groups and village associations alongside individual members, with each member's own savings, principal, interest and payment history preserved underneath the group total.
Savings and credit, held apart
A member can save and borrow at once. Their savings balance is a liability you owe them and their principal is what they owe you — separate records with separate histories, never netted to make a repayment look made.
Per-agent daily close
Expected collection, actual collection, expenses and remittance are tracked per agent to a daily close, so a shortfall surfaces the same evening rather than at month end.
Mobile-money repayments carry their reference
Every payment records its channel — Orange Money, MTN MoMo, Wave, Moov Money, bank transfer or cash — and its transaction reference, so a wallet receipt reconciles against a statement instead of being taken on trust.
Offline collection outside Abidjan
Entries save on the device and sync when the connection returns, so a rural route never costs you a day's collection record.
Audit trail and maker-checker approvals
Every edit, rescheduling, discount, write-off and closure is logged with who did it and when, and the consequential ones can be held for a manager's approval before they take effect.
The route is the unit of the day
Plan daily and weekly routes, assign them to officers, and track completion as it happens with live GPS and a location history behind it. Every collection and expense is tagged to the route it came from, which is what makes end-of-day cash settlement a reconciliation rather than an argument.
Reports that close the day and the month
A day book per route, officer performance with collection efficiency and expense breakdown, collection summaries, overdue and DPD ageing, cash flow by account and profit and loss — each exportable as PDF or CSV, and answerable by voice when you would rather ask than navigate.
How an Ivorian rollout would work
Tell us your approval and your products
Your SFD approval and registration, whether you run savings, credit or both, and how your agents are organised across branches and caisses.
We confirm the setup scope
XOF company setup and a French interface are the two gaps. We will tell you honestly which are ready when you ask, not which are planned.
Pilot one caisse or agent group
Run a single round first, with real members, before any wider migration.
Reconcile against your existing book
Match the pilot's member balances and daily cash against your current system before you trust it with the portfolio.
Who this is for in Côte d'Ivoire
Microfinance in Côte d'Ivoire is carried by SFDs — systèmes financiers décentralisés — the approved savings and credit cooperatives and microfinance institutions that serve members the banking sector does not reach. They operate under the UMOA-wide SFD law, supervised jointly by the BCEAO at the regional level and by the Direction Générale du Trésor et de la Comptabilité Publique under the Ministry of Finance nationally. Approval is granted by the Minister and the SFD is entered on a national register.
That dual supervision is the reason a field system matters more here than the org chart suggests. An SFD is answerable for prudential ratios, a sector-specific accounting framework and portfolio-at-risk reporting — and every one of those numbers is assembled from entries a field agent made at a doorstep, often days before anyone in the office sees them. If the entry was reconstructed from memory that evening, the ratio built on it is a guess wearing a decimal point.
The other thing that shapes the software is that the member owns the money. A commercial lender's error is its own problem. An SFD's error is a member's savings, which is why the audit trail here is not a nice-to-have and why the changes worth gating are the ones that rewrite what a member owes or holds.
Vasool is collections and portfolio software. It is not a licence, a registration, or regulatory approval, and no feature in it makes an unlawful loan lawful. Confirm your legal entity, lending permission and permitted product scope with a qualified local lawyer before your first disbursement.
A note on this page and the French one
This page is in English because the Vasool site is, and because procurement conversations in Abidjan often run in English when a vendor is foreign. The buyer-facing pitch in French lives on a separate page written in French rather than translated into it — an English page does not rank for a French query, and a machine-translated one reads like what it is.
The French page covers the same product for the wider BCEAO zone: Senegal, Benin, Burkina Faso, Mali, Niger, Togo and Guinea-Bissau run under the same SFD framework, and an SFD in Dakar and one in Abidjan are asking the same question of a field system.
What is not ready yet
Côte d'Ivoire is not currently selectable at company setup. Vasool supports India, Sri Lanka, the Philippines, Indonesia, Nigeria, Kenya, South Africa and Colombia today. Adding Côte d'Ivoire means the CFA franc as a first-class currency with Africa/Abidjan business dates and Ivorian phone and address formats.
French is not shipped as an interface or dictation language, so an agent on an Ivorian route could not yet speak entries in French — and Dioula and Baoulé are further out than that. There is no automated import from Orange Money, MTN MoMo, Wave or Moov Money, and Vasool does not produce the SFD accounting framework's returns or prudential ratio submissions. Those stay in your existing systems.
That is a real list, and it is deliberately here rather than in a footnote. If you are an Ivorian SFD evaluating options now, the useful next step is a conversation about timing — what you need, when you need it, and whether that lines up with what we can honestly commit to. If it does not, we will say so.
Voice entry and approvals in Côte d'Ivoire
A collector standing in front of a borrower is holding a cash bag and a phone, and the queue behind is not waiting. That is where entries get skipped and written up from memory at night — and a book reconstructed at night is a book nobody can defend. In Côte d'Ivoire the officer speaks the entry instead — English — and Vasool matches the borrower, parses the amount and the channel, and shows the match for confirmation before anything is saved. French dictation ships alongside Ivorian company setup — neither is live yet — and Dioula and Baoulé are not dictation languages.
Speed is right for a repayment and wrong for a decision. A collection is high-volume and low-consequence, so it posts as soon as the officer confirms it — the confirmation screen is the control. The records that change what a borrower owes are low-volume and high-consequence, so they can be gated instead: switch maker-checker on for the ones that matter here — a renegotiated repayment schedule or a rewritten rate on a member's loan — SFD money belongs to the members, so the record has to name who allowed the change — and the change is held as a request rather than applied, routed to an owner or an assigned approver, and written to the audit trail whether it is approved or rejected.
The gate is set per role and per resource, so you are not choosing between slowing every officer down and controlling nothing. It covers customers, loans, chit and savings schemes, gold sales, expenses, staff, roles and routes today; holding an individual collection entry for approval is on the roadmap, not shipping. The voice approval workflow page walks through what is held, who it routes to, and what the trail records for each outcome.
A full day on the route, not just the collections
Software that records only repayments measures half a round. An officer working a route in Côte d'Ivoire collects money and also spends it, and "Carburant 5 mille" is exactly the kind of entry that never reaches the book when it is scribbled on a slip and typed up that evening — which is when the cash bag stops matching. Vasool takes both by voice: the collection at the doorstep, the expense at the moment it is incurred, each with a photo where the evidence matters.
Everything attaches to the route. Routes are planned and assigned ahead of the day, officers navigate them with GPS, completion is tracked as it happens, and a location history shows where staff actually went. Because each collection and expense carries its route, the day book is per route and end-of-day settlement compares one officer's cash against one officer's recorded movements — not against a pooled total nobody can decompose.
What comes out of that is reporting you can act on: officer performance with collection efficiency, attendance and expense breakdown; overdue and DPD ageing; cash flow by account; and profit and loss for the period, exportable as PDF or CSV. The voice approval workflow page shows how capture, control and reporting fit together across every market.
Before your first disbursement in Côte d'Ivoire
Work through this with Ivorian counsel. Vasool holds the records; none of these are questions software can answer.
- Confirm your SFD approval and your entry on the national register, and exactly what they permit.
- Confirm your prudential ratio and reporting obligations to the BCEAO and the DGTCP.
- Confirm permitted pricing, fees and charges, and how they must be disclosed to the member.
- Keep each member's savings balance and loan principal as separate records, never netted.
- Record original principal apart from interest, fees, penalties and recoveries.
- Require a transaction reference on every mobile-money repayment, and reconcile against the statement.
- Restrict agent access to member data, and review every correction, rescheduling and closure.
